Connect an MCP assistant to your Windows workspaces

How can my compatible AI client use Workspace Launcher actions?

A task you can try

Connect an installed compatible client, start a new chat and check its available Workspace Launcher actions. Try a supported action with a clearly named workspace and inspect the result.

How to set it up

  1. Check your plan’s external-agent capability and install the client.
  2. Open MCP settings and select the supported connection method.
  3. Review the configuration and permissions requested by the client.
  4. Start a new conversation, test an exposed action and disconnect when no longer needed.

When it helps

For people who already use a compatible assistant and want it to access supported workspace actions through a defined connection.

What to check first

Only exposed actions and licensed capabilities are available. Connecting is not unrestricted control of the PC. Existing client configurations are not silently replaced; model and provider services may have separate costs.

Questions before you start

Do I need to run the HTTP MCP server for local clients?

The documented local-agent connection lets supported detected clients start the MCP when needed without enabling the HTTP server.

Does connecting remove plan limits?

No. Each action retains the capabilities and limits of your license.
