Workspace Work with virtual desktops
Separate tasks, switch desktops and move windows deliberately.
Real desktops and saved organization
A Windows virtual desktop contains open windows. A workspace map describes where you want its windows placed when you launch it. Editing the saved map does not immediately move real windows.
Names and navigation
In Settings → Desktops, review existing desktops and their names. Names help identify Work, Personal or a meeting. Switch using your configured actions or Windows controls. Workspace aliases are managed in the workspace map.
Move a window
Use the move-to-desktop action or the destination picker while dragging with its configured modifier. Check the follow-window preference: moving a window can leave you on your current desktop or take you to its destination.
Remove desktops
Review where their windows will go before removing a desktop. Cleaning up desktops and closing windows are separate decisions. The unused-desktop cleanup option applies its safety checks; it does not mean closing everything on those desktops.
