Choose how tasks share desktops and layouts.
Why a conflict appears
Two workspaces can require the same desktop and monitor with different layouts. When launching the second, the coexistence dialogue lets you choose how they share the environment.
Three choices

| Contextual sharing | Dragging a window uses its workspace layout, then returns to the manual layout. |
| Fixed layout | Dragging uses the active manual grid. |
| Independent desktops | The incoming workspace uses a free block of desktops. |
Choose a behaviour
Share when tasks can coexist and you want fewer desktops. Contextual mode suits different arrangements. Independent desktops separate contexts.
Advanced options keep rotations separate by workspace or combine windows sharing a layout, zone and span. Settings also provide defaults.
Closing one workspace
Workspace cleaning should be scoped to its windows; other workspaces can stay open. Check the closure list’s scope.
Your manual layout and a window’s contextual layout need not match. This explains why the overlay can change during a drag.
